Safeguarding Children

Safeguarding Audit

The Safeguarding Audit is designed to assist schools in complying with statutory Safeguarding Children and Child Protection requirements. The audit takes around  4-6 hours to conduct and mirrors the way in which Ofsted goes about making it’s judgement against the current framework. The aim is to work alongside the school as a critical friend, identify areas to improve and signpost good practice that exceeds Ofsted’s minimum requirements.

Our approach: We will agree a date and time for the audit that is convenient to you and identify a named Safeguarding Children and Child Protection Consultant to work with you. This will be confirmed in writing. Our external partners in this field are highly experienced Safeguarding Children and Child Protection Consultants and Home Office PREVENT (Wrap) accredited trainers. They have a extensive experience working with schools across all phases.

Prior to the audit, our specialist will draft a timetable indicating what needs to be covered in the audit and approximate timings, being mindful that scheduling of the various activities can be arranged to fit alongside school commitments and the availability of key staff and governors. When the audit is complete, our consultant will provide feedback, including copies of the audit checklists and suggested improvements to the Headteacher.

What the Audit involves:

  •   Safeguarding Overview
  •   Review of Child Protection Policy
  •   Child Protection Records Check
  •   Governing Body Minutes Analysis
  •   Chair of Governors Interview
  •   Safer Recruitment Check
  •   Single Central Record Check
  •   Headteacher Interview
  •   Pupil Safety Evidence
  •   Staff Survey

Please contact our Education Team to arrange.
