Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Review

The Pupil Premium Review, undertaken by school improvement partner, is designed to evaluate a school's provision and spend of Pupil Premium funding with a view to establishing what's working well in this context and also identifying where expenditure could be utilised more effectively to support disadvantaged pupils.

This review would be useful for schools who have had a previous audit or feel that their provision would benefit from external challenge or support.

Our approach: We will agree a date and time for the audit that is convenient to you and identify a named consultant to work with you. This will be confirmed in writing. Our Diocesan associate consultants and professional partners are all practitioners with appropriate and relevant experience in pupil premium and school leadership and management

What the review involves:

  • 1 day in-school
  • School self-review to be undertaken prior to the audit and shared with the reviewer
  • Evaluation of leadership in this area
  • Discussion and agreement of aspects of effective provision, securing impact for disadvantaged pupil across a range of activities
  • Guidance on next steps to sharpen provision
  • A brief note of visit confirming the findings of the review

Pupil Premium Audit

This commissioned audit is undertaken by an NLE to standard required by Ofsted and following the guidance set out by the National College for Teaching and Leadership in May 2016. This audit is a slimmer version of that set out in the guidance. It is designed for the purpose of using an evidence-based approach to assess the effectiveness of a school's pupil premium strategy, and identify how it might be improved to make greater impact with the funding.

Our approach: We will agree a date and time for the audit that is convenient to you and identify a named consultant to work with you. This will be confirmed in writing. Our Diocesan associate consultants and professional partners are all practitioners with appropriate and relevant experience in pupil premium and school leadership and management.

What the audit involves:

  • 1 day in-school
  • School Self Evaluation of provision and impact - this activity to be undertaken prior to the audit and shared with the auditor
  • External review of spend and areas of success or gaps
  • An Action Plan developed with Senior Leaders on the day, establishing clear next steps, milestones and success criteria. This will be based on knowledge of current effective practice and intended also to sharpen existing practice to meet needs more effectively
